Choosing a Vacuum for Pet Hair: What Our Cleaners Look For
October 15, 2026
Suction that stays strong
Look for a vacuum that keeps suction as the bin fills. Cyclonic designs are good at this.
A tangle-free brush roll
Long hair and pet fur wrap around ordinary brush rolls. Anti-tangle designs save you from cutting hair out with scissors.
A sealed HEPA filter
If anyone in the home has allergies, a sealed HEPA system keeps dander from blowing back into the air.
Cordless vs. corded
Cordless sticks are great for quick daily pickups. For a whole-house clean, a corded or canister model won't run out of battery halfway.
Our tip
Vacuum high-traffic areas every two to three days if you have shedding pets — it's much easier than a big weekly battle.
